An indie project

Hi, I’m Jakub, and I make this on my own. Work. Rest. Repeat. started as a side project, a phone app I built for myself. Along the way I realized a timer like this should be free for every student who needs one. So the website is free for everyone, with nothing locked behind a payment, and in Chrome and Edge on a computer it includes a mini timer that stays on top of your other windows.

The phone apps, Pomodoro: Focus & Rest, cost a small one-time fee of US$3.99 (the price differs by country and local taxes). Even though the website is free, building and running it, and my other projects, still takes time and money. If you’d like to help keep it going, you can sponsor me on GitHub. It’s completely voluntary, and any support is gladly appreciated.

What is stored

The website keeps a few settings in your browser’s local storage, so they are still there when you come back: your work and rest lengths, the rounds before a long rest, whether notifications are on, whether the small timer in the corner of these pages is tucked away, and a timer in progress. This never leaves your device. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Cookies

None. What is stored above is only what the timer needs to work, and it stays on your device, so there is nothing to consent to.

Notifications

Only if you turn on “Notify me”. Your browser asks for permission, and the site registers a small service worker that does nothing but show “Time to rest” and “Back to work” on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere. Turn “Notify me” off again, or block notifications in your browser’s site settings.

Keeping the screen on

While a timer runs, the page asks your browser to keep the screen awake. That stops when the timer stops.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic request details to deliver the page and protect it from abuse, which is the legitimate interest of running a website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare may do this outside the EU, under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its own privacy policy. Fonts are served from this site, and no other services are used.

Writing to me

If you email me, I get your email address and whatever you write. I use it only to answer you (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), never share it, and delete it once it’s no longer needed.

The mobile apps

Pomodoro: Focus & Rest works fully offline and never connects to the internet. It keeps only your work and rest lengths, your repeats and the timer that’s running, all on your phone, and deleting the app removes them. No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. You buy it once from the App Store or Google Play, under their own policies.
